Decorating the Bridal Suite...

Sometimes decorating the bridal suite gets overlooked. There are so many other little details to attend to that this sweet gesture is too often forgotten. So what's the best way to ensure the bride and groom walk in their suite to a bed of roses? The Maid (or Matron) of Honor needs to put it on her to-do list. Now of course it may be near impossible for the MOH to sneak away from tending to the Bride; however, she can always delegate this task to one or two select guests. In the case above... that would be us! Here we are decorating the bridal bed of our dear friends Liz & Wayne with the their monogram (of course!) in pretty pink rose petals. The MOH provided us with the roses and pillow cases and we got to work! It was a fun task and much appreciated by happy couple. (In the bottom picture that's Kristin on the left and Kelly on the right... and yes, we're cheesy!) Did you (or will you) have your bridal suite decorated? We'd love to hear your stories on this topic!

Some Yummy Goodness!

Add ImagePhoto from BryanElie's photostream on Flickr

Want to know a secret? I'm a horrible cook and I'm even worse at baking (shh don't tell!) So with all the cookie exchanges that the holiday season brings I automatically go directly to my "go-to" cookie recipe. Rather than begrudgingly facing a long ingredient list, fretting over the oven temperature, and setting the timer, Chow Mein Noodle Cookies are my answer... and not only are they insanely easy, they're absolutely delicious!

I challenge anyone to produce a cookie recipe with less ingredients! Only two (well three if you want to add in some lightly salted peanuts)! And, these look fun and are always a big hit. Ready for the recipe? Have at it!

Chow Mein Noodle Cookies

12 oz. Chocolate or butterscotch chips (I always use butterscotch but they're pictured with chocolate above)

12 oz. Chow Mein Noodles

1 cup lightly salted peanuts (optional)

(Use approximately equal parts of any chocolate or chip and the noodles. Just add the noodles little by little until all are liberally coated)

Melt the chocolate/butterscotch morsels in a double boiler OR in the microwave. Add chow mein noodles into the melted chocolate and gently stir to coat them all. Drop spoonfulls on to wax paper and let them cool.

Tah-dah! Enjoy :)

Survey Time!

We took a survey last week over at Brooklyn Bride and thought it would be fun (and helpful) to do our own as well. We'd love to get your feedback so please take a second to complete our survey- we'd really appreciate it! We'll leave the link up all week long so that we can get as many responses as possible. Of course there's some incentive to help us out as well... once you complete the survey, leave a comment on this post (if you want to be eligible) and you'll be entered to win one of our preppy embroidered luggage tag sets! We'll announce the winner on Friday- (yay!)

Customize Yourself!

Anytime someone stumbles across my old knot bio I always get an e-mail with the question: "where did you get those cute undies!?!" They are pretty cute I have to admit :) so I figured I'd officially share a fantastic site I found during my own wedding planning: Customized Girl. They offer the cutest clothing options that you can personalize anyway you'd like. It's really easy and the prices are great too. Check it out for yourself!

Crazy about myDaVinci

I don't know if I've just been in the dark or what, but have you seen the site myDavinci.com?!? I really wish I had known about this when I was getting married as I definitely would have tapped into it for gifts for my parents! Actually... maybe I can still do it for Christmas gifts, or ohhhh.... maybe for my parents anniversary coming up... anyway, I digress. This site is unreal. They take your standard photo and turn it into a work of art- it's really quite incredible. Love love love. Bookmarked!

Make A Shoe Statement

Whoever said your shoes had to match your dress? More and more brides are choosing to make a statement with their shoes by choosing a bright fun color to envelop their feet and show off their pretty pedi's. These are some of my favorite picks for fun colorful soles from ShoeSale.com. If you're not familiar with ShoeSale.com you definitely need to check them out- they carry all the top designers at amazing prices. Not a bold bride? No problem, they have lots of traditional white & ivory to choose from as well!

Tagged!

Wow! I've been tagged by weddingsinabox! This is my first tag so I'm pretty excited about it!

The rules are:
1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and/or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

So... 7 random or weird things about myself...
1) I am a terrible cook... and I mean TERRIBLE. My poor husband gets home from work and all I ever have to offer him is a Lean Cuisine, Stirfry, or a sandwich. I'm working on it... but it's not going too well.
2) I am a total caffeine junky. I think I could live off Diet Mountain Dew and be happy.
3) I'm obsessed with my basset hound, Ruby. I treat her like she's a person... here she is when we were laying out together getting some sun this summer :)

4) The sound of feet rubbing together repulses me. It seriously makes me want to throw up.

5) I love to decorate with the color green. Hubby got so sick of green in our last house he's pretty much forbidden it for our new house :(

6) I get motion sickness pretty easily. Windy roads and simulated rides... forget it. I think it's getting worse as I get older too.

7) I have a love affair with weddings. If anyone even mentions anything remotley wedding related I get all excited. Guess that's why I started I Do Originals :)

I am tagging: Magnolias, Marriage, & Manhattan, The Preppy Wedding, Brides in the City, Weddings by Socialites, i-weddings, Wedd Lady, and PlannedPerfectionPA

Quiz Time!

Why do brides wear white? Why are wedding and engagement rings worn on the fourth finger? There are tons of different myths surrounding weddings. Think you know what's true and what's not? Take the Wedding Myths Quiz by Naina Mistry for the Discovery Channel to find out your wedding myth knowledge! I thought I was pretty savy in regards to wedding myths, but as it turns out- I don't know it all getting only 7/10 correct. Can anybody beat me???

(Thanks to Kelly and Jenna for passing this my way! Fun find!)
