Main Squeeze

So in earlier post I shared that my beautiful little sister is getting married and has asked me to be her matron of honor (yay!) She has decided to have a citrus themed wedding, using shades of orange, green and yellow, with accents of pink... i love it! This is what I originally put together for her to help her see what the overall concept would look like:

Since she's decided on this color scheme, I've been scouring the interent for different "citrus" wedding related ideas and have come up with a TON! Now I'm in the process of putting them all together for a little inspiration. Here's are some great citrus centerpieces I've found:

All of these photos were found on flikr. I have a ton of other pics that I've been saving so keep checking back for more "citrus" ideas!

'Tis the Season!

Wedding season is in full effect, which means I've been busy busy busy! I've been working double time to make up for lost-time and many brides should be receiving packages in the mail very shortly! I am so excited for my clients to see their items in person, that's one of the best parts about the whole process. Not only have I been staying busy helping my clients with their weddings, but many of my friends are getting married soon so I'm in wedding heaven! This weekend will be the second of nine, (yes NINE!) weddings that we'll be attending over the next year and a half- SHEW! Since we'll be gone for the weekend I wanted to leave you with a peek of some of my latest creations to tie you over until Monday- enjoy!

Maroon and Orange

In keeping with honoring VT, I think Hokie colors would be a goregous color combo. for a wedding. You would never really think that orange and maroon would go together, but they really make a stunning combination. Here's a little maroon and orange inspiration!

A Visit from the Hokie Bird

In honor of the Virginia Tech Hokies, I thought I'd share this picture from our wedding (credit to our outstanding photographers). Right after the bouqet and garter toss, our DJ announced that a special surprise visitor came to wish us congratulations. He put on the VT fight song and in came the Hokie bird- a huge thrill since 90% of our guests are MAJOR Tech fans. He stayed and did the Hokie Pokie with all our guests (I think just about everyone participated!) and then was available for pictures. The visit was arranged by my parents as a special surprise for me and my hubby (we both attended VT) so this was really a special surprise and helped to further personalize our reception.

From the bottom of my heart...

As you can imagine, this past week has been very difficult for our community. We have used this week to spend time with family, friends, and loved ones. It has been an emotionally draining time, but also a time to recognize the strength and unity not only of the Virginia Tech community, but of the entire nation. Words cannot express how grateful I am for everyone who made a point to contact me expressing their condolences. I have received so many messages from past and present clients, as well as others that I have not yet had a chance to work with but who view my website and read this blog. From the bottom of my heart... Thank you!

I am glad to announce that I Do Originals is once again accepting orders. I am looking forward to resuming in helping brides with the special details of their big day. Thank you again to everyone for your support and patience during this difficult time.

Hokie Hope

Virginia Tech family members across the country have united to declare this Friday, April 20th, an "Orange and Marroon Effect" day to show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends. "Orange and Marroon Effect" was born several years ago as an invitation to Tech fans to wear marroon and orange to athletic events. We invite everyone from all over the country to be a part of the Virginia Tech family this Friday, to wear marroon and orange to support the families of those who were lost, and to support the school and community we all love so much.

"We Will Prevail..."

In the heart of tragedy, it is so difficult to know what to say or where to turn for hope. Today at the convocation on the campus of Virginia Tech, Nikki Giovanni, poet and English professor at VT, found the words to inspire the Virginia Tech community.

It truly means so much to have everyone showing thier support and sending their condolences... I am overwhelmed with your sympathies.

Tragedy at Virginia Tech

The community where we are located has been devastated by the shootings at Virginia Tech this morning. Blacksburg, Virginia is my hometown and is where my family still resides. I myself am a recent graduate of Virginia Tech and I have family and friends who attend VT. Our community is severely affected by this tragedy and due to these events I Do Originals will be closed until further notice. I urge everyone to please keep the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg community in your thoughts and prayers.

For those who know me personally, my brother and the family are safe and sound. Thank you so much for all the phone calls, texts, e-mails and IM's expressing your concern, it is greatly appreciated.

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?!

Over the holiday weekend my recently engaged younger sister asked me to be her Matron of Honor! How did she do it you ask? It was so cute... she gave me a little box wrapped in her wedding colors and inside was a photo puzzle! How adorable is this?! What a great personalized way to ask your bridesmaids and Maid/Matron of Honor!

I'm not sure where she got this one from but I checked around for lowest prices and iPrint.com seems to be the best option.
My sister was my Maid of Honor and I'm looking forward to playing the same role in her wedding! Wondering how I asked her? Well... for our engagement party, I created a photo slideshow of my now husband and I as children and then together as a couple. At the end of the slideshow I had slides with words thanking everyone for helping to celebrate our engagement. I then put a slide with a photo of my sister and I asking her to be my Maid of Honor, and my husband had a photo of him and his brother asking him to be his Best Man. Definitely a tear jerker for all in attendance!

Happy Easter!
